IRISH AIR FORCE

The Republic of Ireland/Eire maintains a small air force much more concerned with transport and air rescue than with combat. The main combat capability is given by a few SF-260WE trainers which can be armed for light attack/close air support. These aircraft will be replaced in 2004 by PC-9M.

PAST: The Fouga Magister was the last combat jet in Irish service and the mount of the "Silver Swallows" display team..

PRESENT: The old SF-260 shows it teeth.

FUTURE: The PC-9M will replace the Sf-260 in the near future. Perhaps a lead-in trainer for a fast jet....?
